Monteiasi is an Italian town with a population of 5.605 inhabitants in the Taranto province/area district in Puglia/Apulia Region and it’s part of the Salentine sub-region.

It has warm and temperate climate. The etymology of Monteiasi derives from its geographical location, between mountains :  "inter montes ". It is located between the little hills where Montemesola, Monteparano and Grottaglie towns are located.

Its origins derives from the farm called "Palummara", west-side of the town where you can see the archaeological complex from Neolitical to Roman Empire period. 

It is near the highway #7 Via Appia between Taranto and Brindisi. There are also several roads that link the town with Carosino (SP81), Grottaglie (SP83), Montemesola (SP80), San Giorgio Jonico (SP82) and with Paolo VI neighborhood of Taranto (SP21 ). Monteiasi is only 17 km from Salento beaches. It is 4 km from Carosino, 4,8 km from San Giorgio Jonico, 6,1 km from Grottaglie and 15,2 km from Taranto.

The railway station of Montemesola-Montemesola is on the railway line Taranto-Brindisi, 4 km from the center of  Monteiasi. 

The “Marcello Arlotta" airport of Taranto-Grottaglie airport is 1,5 km from the city center, mainly used for commercial use.

 

It is 33 km from Massafra linked with highway A14 Bologna-Taranto and it can also be reached through the higway # 7 Via Appia. It’s 18 km from the merchant, turistic and military Port.
